What to Expect
Initial consultation
After our initial telephone conversation, I’ll schedule a time to meet with you at your home. At this initial meeting, I’m interested in finding out your needs, wants and goals for your project, i.e. cosmetic update, more room, better layout, etc. I don’t anticipate you to know how these goals are going to be accomplished as there are often various ways to approach a project. I will listen to your ideas and concerns and we will discuss potential options.
Budget
Depending on the project, I like to discuss a budget for the project. This is important as I don’t want to recommend or design something that is more than you anticipate spending. Open communication helps save time for both of us.
Design
The design phase is next. Depending on the project, this may involve my use of Matterhorn system for measuring your home. (See Matterhorn under the Services tab) I will measure the space being remodeled and provide you with options as have been discussed. Once a design has been approved, we move to the bidding phase for your project. We may also readdress your budget and discuss how this preliminary design fits with your budget requirements.
Project Cost Development
If we both agree that the design is what you want and that it will work with your budget, then I will price out your project with my subcontractors. This may be a preliminary cost estimate to see how closely the actual project costs align with your budget. If the subcontractor costs seem to be coming in more than I anticipated, I will discuss this with you and we can decide if the design needs to be changed or how we can get costs back in alignment with your budget.
Selections and Final Cost Proposal
If the preliminary estimate comes within your budget, I will ask you to make some selections of finishes that will affect the overall cost of the project. Once these selections have been made or the quality level has been established, I will provide a full project estimate with either the selections made or provide allowances for the finishes yet to be decided.
