Our Process

Getting to Know Each Other

After our initial telephone conversation, I’ll schedule a time to meet with you at your home. This is our chance to get to know each other. It is also my opportunity to see your home and find out your specific needs, wants and goals for your project. We will also discuss any special considerations, like animals that need to be contained (petted), children who might be present during construction, etc. As we work through this stage, I will listen to your ideas and concerns and we will discuss all potential options to turn your home into your family’s sanctuary.

Budget Alignment

I like to discuss the budget early on. This isn’t just about numbers. By establishing a realistic range before we dive into deep design work, I can ensure my recommendations align with your financial goals. Open communication in the beginning saves us both time and ensures we are building a plan that can be realized.

Design and Options

The design phase is next. Depending on the complexity of the project, this may involve the use of our Matterport 3D imaging camera for capturing a 3-dimensional walk-thru of your home.

I love using the Matterport camera at this stage as it provides measurements and visual images of your home that I can use after I leave your home. It also allows me to send pictures to my subcontractors to use for bidding purposes.  (See Matterport under the Services tab for more information.)

l will provide design layout options for your consideration and input based on what we discussed at our initial meeting.

Finish Selections

Once you have approved a design, I’ll ask you to select the finishes. If you would like help with your finished selections, I can provide a designer to work with you. My subcontractors and vendors also provide help with selections if you prefer to do the leg work yourself.

Once you have selected your finishes, I’ll provide an estimate and we will discuss what we’ve put together and how it fits within your budget requirements. We prefer to have all selections chosen at this time so we can provide a comprehensive cost analysis for you. However, if that is not possible then we will provide allowances for any unselected finishes.

Project Cost Development

If the estimate is in your budget range, then we will finalize selections and complete the project cost and project specifications. We will then provide you with a proposal ready for your approval and a preliminary schedule.

Scheduling and Project Start

Finally, we’ll discuss when you would like your project scheduled and how that fits in with my subcontractors’ and my schedule. We do not start a project until we have a full schedule and commitment from our subcontractors. This provides for the least amount of time for your home to be under construction.

Care Note

Throughout every phase of this process, my priority is your comfort. Remodeling can be invasive and messy. My promise is a clean job site every night and a text update as changes might occur. This way you’re never left wondering what’s happening in your home. I don’t just build spaces; I manage the experience so it’s as stress-free as possible for you.
